OUR ORIGIN STORY
BUTR & MILK was born from a moment of feeling completely lost...
...and crappy clothes. You know when everyone in school knows what they're doing afterwards...except you. That was me. Art, makeup, photography, editorial magazines and staying up to date with style trends from the trusty "DOLLY" magazine were all hallmarks of teenage Katie. Fear and well intentioned albeit bad advice led me to enrolling into nursing at university - what the fu**?!, exactly.

I liked being a cosmetic nurse. Its creative and dangerous - like me. I didn't love it and I hated its challenges. Covid brought time and with that time, I had a full meltdown about being passion-less and purpose-less and that brought clothes.
Clothes, outfits, aesthetic photos and Instagram were my Covid activities until one day...

...I ordered some sweats amongst other basics and on arrival a final straw gently settled on the camels back - was this seriously the quality that the majorities money could afford.
Visualise Covid Katie - I am full meltdown mode, I just want to be the baddie promised to me on the brands Instagram and I was sent garments that were itchy, scratchy, see through or warped after one wash.
I could make better.

So I did. I made better and I spent two years developing the brand and its pieces, churning through factories who told me it couldn't be done.
The brand might have limited ranges and drops but that's the point. Meticulous attention to detail on every design and every brand decision ensures that we never create crap. The planet doesn't need more crap.
Timeless, elevated, refined but with enough edge and attitude to not bore us, the entrepreneurs.
Joining BUTR & MILK is to step into quality, passion and purpose. Built by entrepreneurs.
Why "BUTR & MILK"...?
My life has had one unwaivery constant - my Nana's instructions when heading to the store "Just the essentials".
Translated from Nana to all other humans, that means - bread, butter and milk (she's a diagnosed tea and toast addict).
I knew that whichever direction the brand went in overtime, I would always stick to the essentials. High quality, comfortable essentials.
Mulling over ridiculously long list of names I found myself continuously drawn to the one that had been inspired by Nana...
BUTR & MILK Just the Essentials.
Pray my children aren't names tea and toast.
